India is not merely a geographical nation; it is an eternal civilizational consciousness rooted in Sanātana Dharma. It is a sacred land where human life has never been defined solely by rights, but by duties, righteousness, self-restraint, moral responsibility, and mutual respect. The enduring spirit of Indian civilization rests upon the profound recognition that the Divine dwells within every individual; therefore, every human being deserves dignity, courtesy, and reverence.

The Vedas proclaim, “Saṅgacchadhvaṁ Saṁvadadhvaṁ” Walk together, deliberate together, and build society through meaningful dialogue. This timeless injunction reflects the essence of Indian thought: differences of opinion are natural and even desirable, but differences of heart must never be allowed to arise. Intellectual disagreement is the hallmark of a vibrant democracy; personal vilification is not.

In a democratic nation, every citizen possesses the constitutional right to express opinions, question policies, voice dissent, organise peaceful protests, and hold the government accountable. Such freedoms are the very strength of democracy. Yet these freedoms are inseparable from responsibility. When legitimate criticism descends into abusive, vulgar, or demeaning language, it ceases to be constructive dissent and instead diminishes not only the individual being targeted but also the moral and cultural fabric of the nation itself.

In recent days, deeply offensive and undignified expressions have been directed at the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. Even more distressing have been the derogatory remarks made against his revered late mother. Such expressions are wholly incompatible with the civilizational values of Bharat. No ideological disagreement, political rivalry, or public grievance can ever justify language that wounds human dignity. Such conduct neither strengthens democracy nor reflects the true spirit of India.

Our civilization teaches us to uphold restraint, dignity, and decorum even in disagreement. The Rāmāyaṇa exemplifies unwavering adherence to maryādā even amidst war. The Mahābhārata, despite its devastating conflict, preserves traditions of dialogue, honour, and ethical conduct. The Śrīmad Bhāgavata Mahāpurāṇa continually inspires compassion, forgiveness, and goodwill. Indian wisdom has never sanctioned abusive speech not even towards one’s adversary.

The entire community of saints, spiritual leaders, and seekers is deeply pained by the increasing use of such uncivil language in public discourse. It is entirely legitimate to disagree with those who hold public office; however, disagreement must never degenerate into personal insult or indecorous expression. Respect for the dignity of constitutional institutions and the offices they represent is not an act of political allegiance it is a sacred duty owed to democracy itself.

The world’s admiration for India has always rested upon our humility, refinement, and elevated vision of humanity. We are heirs to the wisdom of the Ṛṣis. We are the civilization that proclaimed “Vasudhaiva Kuṭumbakam”. The whole world is one family. We recognise the Divine in every living being and extend reverence not only to humanity but also to nature, animals, birds, rivers, mountains, and all creation. A civilization so expansive in its compassion must also reflect that nobility through the language it speaks.

Today, it is especially important for the younger generation to understand that language is not merely a means of communication; it is the mirror of one’s character and culture. A society that preserves civility in speech safeguards the strength of its future. Hatred, insult, and vulgarity have never produced enduring solutions. Dialogue, wisdom, restraint, and mutual respect alone can build a strong, harmonious, and progressive nation.

The Hon’ble Prime Minister’s sincere concern for the welfare and future of India’s students deserves appreciation. Under his leadership, several important reforms have been initiated to make the education system more transparent, accountable, equitable, student-centric, and quality-driven. Such initiatives seek to strengthen educational institutions, protect the interests of students, and ensure that every young citizen receives a fair, secure, and empowering environment for learning. The ultimate purpose of any educational reform should be to nurture the intellectual, moral, and national character of future generations while safeguarding their aspirations.

Finally, we offer our prayers to the Almighty for all those who have resorted to language motivated by anger, hostility, or malice. May God bless them with wisdom, discernment, and noble understanding. May they be inspired to honour India’s timeless cultural heritage, its moral ideals, and its democratic values, and may they contribute positively to the noble task of nation-building through dialogue, dignity, and mutual respect.

May our words always reflect the greatness of our civilization, for the character of a nation is ultimately revealed through the language of its people.
